Duane was active duty Air Force when I met him while he was stationed at Hill AFB, Utah. We were set up on a blind date by my friend Kami, and Duane's friend and roomate Bill who were dating at that time.
After Duane and I were married he separated from the Air Force briefly. Thought that life was greener on the other side of the fence. Then we found out we were pregnant and back in he went! Gotta pay for that baby somehow! Spencer, Aaron and Megan are all Air Force babies. Jake is our only civilian baby.
After 8 years active duty Duane once again separated from the Air Force and we moved from Utah to North Dakota to join the Happy Hooligans. This is the nickname for the North Dakota Air National Guard. While in North Dakota Duane was a traditional Guardsman and also worked at the Guard base in various jobs until he got the job that we went up there for which was to be a Crew Chief on the F-16 Fighter. This is what Duane did in the 8 years of active duty.
While in Fargo Duane decided to go back to school. So he quit his full time job, took on 3 part time jobs and a full load at the North Dakota State University. During these college years he also cross trained from being a crew chief to the medical field in the Guard. He became an EMT and was in charge of training on the local level. While doing this he was approach by a member of the staff for the Surgeon Generals office for the Air National Guard who wanted him to apply for a job that would have him doing nationally what he did locally for the North Dakota Air National Guard.
So off to Maryland we went. Now after 4 different career fields in the Air National Guard Duane gets to pack away all his uniforms and other military "junk." Now he is back in school to finish his degree which went from medical to business to Political Science.
And the hunt for a new job begins...................
