One May 23, 2012 Aaron graduated from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Wow! What an event!
The activities are spread out over 3 days. We participated in 2 of those days events. This post is all about graduation day!
The graduation ceremony began at 10 am on a clear and breezy Colorado day. We had to stand in line and get all our bags checked and go through metal detectors because the speaker for the graduation was none other than President Barack Obama. Okay, I may not be hip on his political policies but seriously it's the Prez! Kinda a once in a lifetime event to be at a "live" viewing of the holder of the office of the President of the United State of America!
This was one of those events that makes me want to shout "I LOVE AMERICA!" Before the graduating cadets came out onto the football field they were lined up under the stadium- what ever the official name for this place is I know not. It is where the football players come out onto the field from the locker rooms, and the crowd goes wild. While the cadets where waiting for the official okey-dokey to enter the stadium they shouted some sort of "YES! We are Pumped Up!" chant and yes the crowd went WILD! Then they started marching onto the field. We did get this on video but S & MB have that so you get the still shots which MB took. She has one awesome camera!!
The cadets march on and do this cool little separation thingie into their chairs. All 1073 (or was it 1076? Whatever! It was A LOT!) of them looking fine!
And then the guest speaker entered.
Introduction of official guests. Speaker. Speaker. Time to go through all those graduates! Finally get to squadron 18. End of the alphabet to Volk. Yell! Whoot! Whoot! Yeah Aaron!
Then it is time for the official commissioning of these graduating cadets to 1st Lieutenants in the United Stated Air Force (This is probably not the actual photo of that event but it is the only one I have of the group standing so we will pretend).
And then....
It's official!
As the hats fly into the air the Thunderbirds come zooming over the stadium. SWEET!
It was a great day. We had a wonderful contingent of the family there to celebrate the occasion.
In attendance: My dad and stepmother- Mark and Liz Child, My mom and stepfather- Tom and LaJeane Lewis, Duane's parents- Emanuel and Leona Volk, My brother -Curtis Child, Me, Duane, Megan and Jeff, Spencer, MaryBeth, Tori and Josi, Curtis' kids- Collin, Jenna and Courtney, Amanda and Amanda's parents Joe and Donna Pavlovsky, Ken and Joni Page.
Tired and hot but still cute!
Megan, Jeff and Collin just couldn't hang in there. Wimps. Megan got a great tan line on her one leg. She had leggings on. It's pretty sweet. I got a nice farmers tan going on too.

Sooooo stinkin' proud of Aaron! What an awesome kid & even more awesome parents! Darn--that Jake is always missing the good stuff...but we're glad he is where he is supposed to be.
Too cool to be there with the Commander in Chief attending & speaking. I'd say that was a remarkable day for y'all. Congratulations to the Volk family!
We were lucky (as I told you in person:) to see Aaron get his diploma on TV.
WOW, lots of people came too. NEAT!

What a great couple of days to celebrate Aaron's graduation and then his marriage to Amanda. So pleased to have been there to help celbrate. Your family is so awesome! Just loved being with you.

That is simply awesome! Good job Aaron! Can't wait to hear about his nuptials next. I can't believe Jake missed two weddings!
